Maintainence Guide of Pool Heat Pump in Winter

Despite the weather gradually becoming colder, the Pool Heat Pump in your house can keep running for a comfortable swimming experience. The air source pool heat pump has the advantages of high energy efficiency, energy saving and environmental protection, which can greatly extend your swimming days in the winter. However, to make the heat pump pool work efficiently, maintenance is essential, or else it will easily cause damage to the unit. Here are 5 maintenance tips.

1. Pipeline Insulation

A good insulating of the pipes can improve the heating efficiency of the pool heat pump. When the ambient temperature is low, the heat will escape from the exposed pipes into the air, thus reducing the efficiency of the unit. User can use insulation material to wrap the pipes to prevent the water temperature inside the pipes dropping too fast.

2. Make sure it is energized status even if the unit is turned off temporarily

When the temperature drops below 0 degrees, water will begin to freeze. As the water expands in volume when it freezes, it can cause damage to the internal parts and pipes of the machine. But don't worry, because most air source pool heat pumps have an automated defrost function. Take UWO's pool heat pumps for example, when the unit senses that the temperature has dropped to a certain level, it will start the automatic defrost function even if the machine is not running. So if the pool heat pump is not used for a short period of time, it should also be kept powered on.

3. Drain the water inside the unit and cut off the power if it is not used for a long time.

Likewise, if you are in an area with frequent power outages, or if the pool heat pump is not used for a long time, you need to drain the tank and the water in the pipes and then cut off the power to prevent the water retained in the unit from freezing and thus causing damage to the machine.

4. Cleaning

Clean the unit with household cleaner or water thoroughly before winterizing. Do not use gasoline, thinner or any similar fuel. The finned-tube heat exchanger at the rear of the heat pump must be carefully cleaned using a vacuum cleaner and soft brush.

5. Performing the following inspections by qualified personnel at least once a year:
● Conduct safety checks.
Check the connection and integrity of the wires.
Check the bolts and screws for looseness.
Check the ground connection.

Monitor for refrigerant leaks.
